From a 7-a-side football pitch to a multi-sport court with LSR20 in Castellcir
The Castellcir Town Council has taken a decisive step towards sustainability by transforming the natural grass 7-a-side football pitch into an LSR20 multi-sport surface. This change drastically reduces water consumption and simplifies maintenance without sacrificing play quality. The new turf provides comfortable footing, good grip, and a regular bounce, ensuring smooth activity for both training and recreational use.
The installation was carried out using a floating system over a gravel sub-base, a clean and quick solution that improves drainage, protects the existing base, and facilitates future interventions. This assembly extends the lifespan of the paving and allows the court to be operational all year round, recovering quickly from rain and maintaining a well-kept appearance in any season.
The LSR20 turf transforms the old field into an efficient and versatile court, offering lower water consumption, minimal maintenance, and consistent playing performance throughout the year.
To enhance the use of the facility, multi-sport goals and posts have been incorporated, and the layout has been organized to allow football, volleyball, and basketball to be played in the same space. The line markings are clear, and the logistics for switching activities are minimal, meaning the municipality gains hours of use per square meter and can schedule more activities for all ages.
